-
Try to keep your car in the garage to prevent damage from tree sap and bird
droppings. These contain acids that can damage the finish. If contact occurs,
wash immediately with soap and water. This is especially important for the first
few days.
-
Do not use a car cover or commercial brush car wash for the first 30 days
after painting. Hand washing is always best to keep the finish looking new. Make
sure that sponges, rags, and other cleaning materials are clean. Make sure there
is no grit in the water.
- Avoid pressure washing.
- Avoid gasoline spills while fueling. If this occurs try to wipe
of the gasoline quickly and wash off the residue.
- Do not wax your car for 60 days after painting.
-
Do not set things on your car hood or trunk. When objects are moved, even
slightly, they will scratch the paint, leaving a mark in your new finish. Do not
allow people to sit on your car exterior because their clothing may have
buttons, zippers, or rivets or they may have keys in their pockets or on their
hips, which can mark your new paint.
- Avoid leaving your car in the sun for days on
end. If you have a covered parking space use it.
- Avoid placing stickers on new paint for several months. Even
though these can damage any paint they are especially tough on new paint.
